Ingredients

  • 3 cups dry milk 14 oz
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened dutch-processed cocoa powder 2.75 oz
  • 1/2 cup sugar 3.75 oz
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine ground salt .10 oz

Instructions

  • Mix: Add everything to a large bowl and mix well.
  • Store: Store in an airtight container, jars, tupperware, or ziplock bag.

To Make Hot Cocoa

  • Add 1/4 cup of cocoa mix to an 8-12 oz mug and add very hot or boiling water or milk. Mix really well to ensure all of the sugar has dissolved and serve with mini marshmallows.

Notes

This mix will make approximately 17 cups of cocoa
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place and an airtight container for up to 1 year.
Sweetness
As written, this cocoa mix is on the less-sweet side to allow the added sweetness from marshmallows. Increase the sweetness by adding another 1/4 - 1/2 cup of sugar.
Dutch-Processed Cocoa Powder
Dutch-processed cocoa is best for this recipe. Undutched (natural) cocoa is more acidic.
Customize!
Add a pinch of cayenne for some heat, a couple of teaspoons of cinnamon or nutmeg, or another bit of holiday spice for a unique flavor, or use dark cocoa powder!
Gift
This mix makes a great gift! Package in small mason jars or gift bags with marshmallows for an easy, delicious stocking stuffer or to add to a homemade food gift basket.
