Blueberry BBQ Sauce

Add some fresh summer berry nutrition and sweetness to this classic summer sauce!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb blueberries
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke optional

Instructions

  • Cook: Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan, stir, and heat over medium high. Bring to a boil and then turn down heat to medium and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Blend: Add it all to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Nutritional value is per cup.
Storage
Fridge: Store in the an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Freezer: Let completely cool and then freeze in a freezer safe container or plastic bag for up to 3 months. 
Substitutions
Vinegar: You can also use white or apple cider vinegar. 
Brown Sugar: Molasses is another great sweetener to use.

We absolutely love this sauce on pork ribs and pork chops!
