Newly updated! Making your own condiments is easier than you may think. With just 4 simple ingredients, you can make your own Peanut Butter From Scratch at home!
Is there anything more satisfying than that moment when you make your own condiment? That thing that you've been buying in a jar or a tub for your whole life and then *boom* you make it yourself! The power! The excitement! That's exactly how I felt the first time we made this Peanut Butter From Scratch! Even better, it's incredibly easy to make and the ingredients are super simple.
Ingredients Needed
- Peanuts - the best peanuts for peanut butter are raw, unsalted, and skinless.
- Honey - Or another sweetener of choice.
- Salt - Kosher is our go-to!
- Peanut oil - You can also use a neutral flavored oil but for the ultimate peanut flavor, peanut oil is the best.
Easy to Make
Pan Fry Peanuts
While you can totally skip this step, you don't want to. Giving the peanuts a quick lil pan fry in, peanut oil, brings out even more of the peanut flavor!
Tip: If there are any that are super burned, pick those out before you add them to your blender or food processor. You don't want them to add any burnt flavor to your homemade peanut butter.
Blend
Add it all to a blender and blend until perfectly creamy!
Recipe Tips
Be sure that you watch your peanuts when you're frying them. You want to slowly stir them the whole time you're frying on high to avoid this. Once you start to see them brown, that's all you need.
Be sure to let them cool completely, for at least 30 minutes.
Like a sweeter peanut butter? Just add a little more honey! Like a little saltier peanut butter? No problem, just add a little more salt! You can totally adjust this homemade peanut butter to your taste!
We've made this peanut butter from scratch many many times and have found that for super soft and smooth peanut butter that's not oily, you'll need 3/8 cup of peanut oil. But if you like a much looser peanut butter, just add more oil.
You can have either with this recipe! For smooth, just blend until creamy. For chunky, see the recipe notes.
Why buy store bought when you can have a creamy dreamy Peanut Butter From Scratch at home?
Homemade peanut butter is truly one of the easiest condiments you can make at home, from scratch. And one that once you taste it homemade, you'll wonder why you've been buying it from the store!
