There are some foods that you never forget the first time you had them. Muesli is one of them for me. I was living in Italy where breakfast is sweet. As a fruit and eggs breakfast eater, I was lost. Eggs? Never. Fruit? Blank stares. Toast? Only if it has Nutella. My host families instead introduced me to muesli and yogurt. I was. In. Love. Oats, dried fruits, and nuts. This Easy Homemade Muesli takes me back to my days in Italy and also gives my girls a delicious, healthy cereal!

Ingredients Needed

a bowl of oats, dried blueberries, nuts, wheat germ, and chia seeds.

One the of the best things about making an Easy Homemade Muesli is that it’s totally customizable. Oats. Nuts/seeds. Dried fruits. That’s it, that’s all you need and whatever you have on hand. For ours we chose:

  • Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • Ground Flax Seed
  • Dried Dates
  • Chia Seeds
  • Sliced Almonds
  • Pepitas
  • Chopped Pecans
  • Dehydrated Blueberries

Because it’s blueberry season, we had some freshly picked blueberries that we dehydrated which was perfect for this! (And some of our Blueberry Almond Granola!)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

That’s it! Ha. Does it get any easier? Actually, it does. It’s totally customizable! All you need is a mixture of oats, seeds, nuts, and dried fruits. Whatever you have on hand.

Add fresh fruit to round it out and make every bowl different. We love love love fresh summer raspberries mixed in. But strawberries, bananas, apples, peaches, whatever you have wound be delish.
