We love homemade condiments around here, and this one is just as easy as the others, and it’s also one that’s becoming harder to find in grocery stores. So instead of going on a hunt to find it, just make your own Homemade Russian Dressing from scratch at home! This creamy dressing is delicious on green salads, Reuben sandwiches, or in place of mayo for any of your other favorite sandwiches!

What is Russian Dressing?

Russian Dressing is a creamy mayo-based dressing. It’s very similar to Thousand Island Dressing, but often less sweet and a bit spicier. Our version is a bit of a blend of the two, bringing just a touch of sweetness and some kick with some hot sauce! Most versions have some kind of ketchup or tomato-based component, but ours, we prefer to omit the ketchup and add a bit more hot sauce!

Ingredients Needed

bowls of ground mustard, celery, pickles, mayonnaise, hot sauce, worschester sauce, parsley, and salt all labeled.
  • Mayonnaise The base of this creamy dressing, and made even better when you make your own Mayonnaise From Scratch!
  • Hot Sauce – Sriracha, specifically, is the hot sauce we prefer for this Homemade Russian Dressing.
  • Pickles and Celery – Just a little crunch and acidity. The celery is totally optional, we love the aadded crunch, but if you prefer a much smoother dressing, you can omit.
  • Ground Mustard and Worcestershire Sauce – Key flavor enhancers for this dressing.
  • Parsley – A little for some added herbal freshness.
  • Salt – Just a touch!
