It’s a Southern classic, but made our way! I love a good sheet pan dinner around here, and our Sheet Pan Shrimp Boil is a new favorite! It has all of the flavors you want: sweet summer corn, plump, juicy shrimp, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside potatoes, and smoky sausage, all tossed together in a delicious seasoned butter sauce, thanks to our Copycat Old Bay Seasoning!

What is a Shrimp Boil?

Traditionally, a shrimp boil (or seafood boil or “Lowcountry Boil”) is a popular Southern meal that cooks all of the ingredients boiled in a lemon broth and is then finished with seasoned butter. Our recipe for Sheet Pan Shrimp Boil adds even more flavor by roasting it all in the seasoned butter and oil for an easy-to-serve and easy-to-clean-up dinner!

Ingredients Needed

bowls of raw shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage, oil, salt and pepper and garlic powder, old bay seasoning, butter, lemon, and parsley all labeled.
  • Shrimp – The main ingredient in a shrimp boil! Deveined of course, and peeled if you’d like; however, traditional shrimp boils use easy-to-peel, shell-on shrimp to protect the shrimp from overcooking (and to add flavor). We’ve made this with both peeled and unpeeled, and trust us, even with the shell on, all of that delicious flavor is still cooked into the shrimp!
  • Corn – This is the perfect use for fresh summer corn! We cut cobs into thirds for this recipe.
  • Potatoes – Waxy-skinned potatoes are best for this recipe as they will maintain their structure the best. We use red potatoes, but a yellow potato will also be great!
  • Sausage – Add some smoky goodness to this dinner! We love smoked sausage, andouille sausage, and have even used kielbasa.
  • Old Bay Seasoning – Key to adding so much flavor to the butter seasoning! Go the from scratch extra mile by making your own!
  • Butter and Oil – We use both butter and oil for this one, but you can, of course, use all butter for the ultimate butter flavor!
  • Garlic Powder, Salt, and Pepper – Just enough to add even more flavor!
  • Fresh Parsley – To finish and garnish with!

Ready in 30 Minutes

We love how quickly this recipe comes together! It’s just a par-boil of the potatoes (with lemon), then a mixture of the butter, oil, and spices to create the butter seasoning.

Add that butter seasoning to everything and then give it a good mix.

Seasoning Tip

We season the corn, shrimp, and sliced sausage first and then the potatoes in a large bowl to save time. But this can also be done right on the sheet pan to save the extra dish to wash! Just be sure to give the potatoes a minute or two to cool before adding them to the rest of the ingredients. That way, they won’t start to cook the shrimp.

Add it all to a sheet pan and bake for 15 minutes. That’s all you need!

Equipment

  • sheet pan
  • small sauce pot
  • mixing bowls optional
  • oil sprayer optional

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp deveined, peeled or unpeeled
  • 1 lb red potatoes halved
  • 1 lb smoked sausage
  • 4 ears corn on the cob
  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1.5 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt plus 1 tablespoon for water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 fresh lemon
  • fresh parsley to garnish

Instructions

  • Par Boil Potatoes: Add water to a medium sized saucepan with 1 tablespoon of kosher salt and 1/2 lemon. Add halved potatoes and heat over high to bring to a boil. Par boil the potatoes for 10 minutes and then drain and set aside.
  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400℉. Lightly oil a sheet pan (we use an olive oil mister for this) and set aside.
  • Prep Other Ingredients: Meanwhile, husk the corn and cut into thirds. Slice sausage and all corn and sausage to a large bowl.
  • Butter Seasoning: Add butter and oil to a small sauce pan (or a microwave safe bowl) and melt butter on stovetop on medium (or in the microwave). Add Old Bay Seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the butter and oil and mix well.
  • Season: Add most of the butter seasoning to the corn, shrimp, and sausage and mix well. Add the rest to the potatoes and mix and add it all to a lightly oiled sheet pan.
*We do this in a large bowl, but this can all be done on the sheet pan to save the extra dishes. If mixing all together, let the potatoes slightly cool first.
  • Bake: Add the tray to the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Serve and Enjoy! Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with remaining lemon cut into wedges and enjoy!

Notes

Substitutions
Shrimp: We’ve made this with both peeled and unpeeled shrimp. The unpeeled shrimp is still incredibly flavorful, but my kids prefer it when they’re unpeeled.
Smoked Sausage: Use your favorites! We love a smoked andouille for this recipe but have also made it with kielbasa.
Potatoes: Any waxy red or yellow potato is great for this. We used larger red potatoes that we cut in half, but you could also use whole small red or yellow potatoes or fingerling potatoes. Par boiling them first will ensure that you have a fully cooked potato.
Sheet Pan Clean Up
One of the best parts of a sheet pan meal is the easy clean up! We opted to use bowls and saucepans for this recipe, but you can absolutely use fewer dishes by mixing it all right on the oiled sheet pan. Just be sure to let your potatoes have had at least a minute or two to cool slightly before adding it all together and mixing.
