Coming in just the nick of time before the big game day! This recipe idea popped into my head at the most random moment, and I was so excited about it that I had to stop what I was doing and start planning it out. So here it is, our latest and greatest slider recipe, our Spinach Artichoke Sliders! Everything you love about this classic hot dip, but baked between our fluffy Homemade Hawaiian Rolls for a delicious and cheesy hand-held appetizer or party snack!

Ingredients Needed

a tray of rolls and bowls of spinach, artichokes, cream cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella, and spices.
  • Hawaiian Rolls – We absolutely love our Homemade Hawaiian Rolls for this slider recipe, but you can, of course, use regular dinner rolls or whatever is your go-to favorite slider roll.
  • Spinach and Artichokes – The two main ingredients! This is a great recipe to use frozen spinach, but you can of course also blanch some fresh spinach, too.
  • Cheese – Cream cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella, all key for these cheesy sliders!
  • Spices – Garlic and onion powder, parsley, and of course salt and pepper, round out the flavors in these savory sliders.
  • Cornstarch – This will act as a binder, preventing the cream cheese from fully melting and allowing it to keep enough of its structure to hold within a slider, but still have that ooey gooey goodness when you bite into it.

Helpful Tools

Mixing Bowls – We love these glass mixing bowls and use them for everything
Kitchen Scale – Not as necessary in this recipe as it is when baking, but still an incredibly helpful tool!
Spatula – This is helpful to spread out that thick, cheesy spinach artichoke
9×13 Baking Dish – To bake these sliders in!

So Easy to Make

two bowls, one with cheeses, spinach, and artichokes and then it all mixed together.

Prep Filling

These Spinach Artichoke Sliders come together really quickly. It’s just a matter of prepping the filling by mixing the artichoke, thawed spinach, cheeses, spices, and a bit of cornstarch to help bind it all.

Soften Cream Cheese

Be sure to give the cream cheese just a quick zap in the microwave to soften it a bit, it will make your spinach artichoke mixture mixing a lot easier!

Fill the Rolls

Add some healthy helpings to the center of your rolls and then top.

Finish with More Cheese

Because why not! Plus, the extra mozzarella in the nooks and crannies of the rolls in the pan will get extra ooey and gooey and melty!

Grate your own cheese!

You’ll hear me say this over and over again – but it’s worth repeating! For the ultimate melty cheese, grate your own cheese from the block! Preshredded cheeses have anti-clumping agents added which prevent the cheese from clumping in the bag, but it also means it won’t melt as well as freshly grated cheese will. Trust me, it’s worth the extra minute to do it yourself!

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian Rolls
  • 9 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese 6.4 oz, divided and shredded
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese 1.5 oz, shredded
  • 10 oz frozen spinach thawed and drained, about 1 1/4 – 1 1/2 cups
  • 2 cups artichoke hearts chopped, or a 13.5 oz can
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch 7 g

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350℉. Lightly grease a 9X13 baking dish.
  • Prep Spinach and Artichokes: Drain artichokes and chop into small pieces. Thaw spinach and squeeze out excess moisture in a cheese cloth or gently press into a colander over a sink or bowl.
  • Prep Filling: Add cream cheese to a medium sized microwaveable safe dish. Heat for 30 seconds to soften. Add 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, chopped artichokes, spinach, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, and cornstarch. Mix well.
(No need to soften in the microwave freshly made cream cheese – but be sure to get as much moisture out of that fresh cheese before using)
  • Fill Rolls: Slice Hawaiian Rolls in half and layer the bottom halves in the lightly greased baking tray. Layer the cheesy spinach and artichoke mixture over the roll halves, then top with the other roll halves. Sprinkle with rema the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melty and the tops of the rolls are slightly browned.
  • Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

Substiutions
Spinach: To use fresh spinach, use 1 lb of fresh. Blanch it and then squeeze out any excess liquid, and give it a good chop.
Artichokes: Unmarinated artichokes are best for this recipe.
Garlic: Use 1 teaspoon of fresh minced garlic in place of the garlic powder. Or measure that garlic level with your heart – garlic amounts are always subjective!
Rolls: These sliders are the perfect excuse to make a batch of our Homemade Hawaiian Rolls, but our Easy Dinner Rolls From Scratch or Homemade Sweet Potato Rolls are delicious for them, too! Or use whatever your favorite store-bought rolls are.
