Ingredients Needed:

Ingredients for ground beef and broccoli laid out on a counter.
  • Ground Beef – Often a much more affordable red meat option. Any lean point would be ok since the extra grease is drained.
  • Broccoli – You could use fresh or frozen, whatever you have on hand.
  • Sesame Seeds – yes, we have a lot on hand at all times. Mainly so we can always whip up some Homemade Tahni From Scratch!
  • Red Wine Vinegar
  • Ground Ginger – or fresh ginger if you have it!
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Soy Sauce – we use regular because we like things a bit saltier, but if you don’t, definitely use low sodium.
  • Sesame Oil
  • Rice – Or whatever else you want to serve it over!
Sriracha and garlic sauce in a bowl with a fork.

Optional Ingredients:

  • Sriracha – add the heat!
  • Chili Garlic Sauce – this adds some flavor but also some salt, which we love but if you’re using full sodium soy sauce, this may make it a little salty for you.

How to Make Easy Ground Beef and Broccoli:

  • Make rice, or even better use some leftover rice you have.
  • Mix garlic, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, sesame oil, and ground ginger in a small bowl (add sriracha and garlic chili sauce if desired).
  • Brown ground beef in large skillet, drain excess fat.
  • Stir in broccoli and soy sauce mixture and cook until broccoli is tender.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice!

Tips:

Adjust to your Salt Preference. The biggest thing with this dish is monitoring your salt preference. We like things on the saltier side and so we use regular soy and add garlic chili sauce, both of which have high sodium. But if you don’t like things salty, definitely use low sodium and don’t add the garlic chili sauce.

Broccoli Size. Cut your broccoli in even-sized pieces so they cook at the same rate.

Ground Beef. We love this with a leaner beef, like 85%-90%.

Add some Heat. Kick it up with some extra sriracha or even sprinkle in a 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.

  1. As a single guy and a truck driver I have little time or opportunity to eat a healthy meal. I made this recipe but added green onions and carrots. It was fast easy and delicious. You got a fan .

Super easy and wicked delicious! And we didn’t even have the sriracha or garlic chili sauce so I can only imagine that would make it tastier! You could easily add extra veggies like onions or carrots if you had a little extra time or needed to use stuff up. We used leftover rice, which saved on time. Will definitely make again! Thank you!

    1. This is really good! I didn’t have any red wine vinegar but toasted sesame rice vinegar worked just fine. I’ll be making this often, so quick and easy, thank you!

  4. Yes! I miss going out in public and interacting with other people! Maybe this time next year? Fingers crossed! I’ve always been a fan of beef and broccoli, but can’t say I’ve had it made with ground beef. Love the idea because it’s definitely a more affordable way to get beef! Also loving all these flavours – give me all the sriracha!!

We love this recipe and the fact that you mentioned organic or grass fed, which is what we use. Nice blend of seasonings, thanks.

  6. This looks awesome! I’ve never made something like this but my son loves broccoli so I’m going to try it with coconut aminos, as we’re allergic to soy. Thanks so much for this easy recipe! I’m so sick of the same old stuff.

  7. I love beef and broccoli, but never thought to make it with ground beef! What a great, easy and cost-effective idea. Thanks for the inspiration!

  9. Oh this look so yum! It would be great for a midweek dinner over some basmati rice I reckon. I could even pack it for my daughter’s school lunch (she hates sandwiches!). Definitely eating it with sriracha. That’s a staple in our house!
