Our Pita Chips From Scratch got an upgrade! We first posted our recipe for Pita Bread From Scratch and Pita Chips way back in 2015, and it was time for a refresh! We love a good salty crispy snack around here (give me salty over sweet!) and these fit the bill perfectly. Even better, you can add as much from scratch flair as you want! Go full-on by making your own pita bread, or this pita chips recipe is a great way to repurpose your favorite store-bought pita bread that may be beyond its prime pita sandwich stage. Either way, you’re going to want to add these to your salty snacks from scratch list!

Ingredients Needed

homemade pitas, Italian seasoning, olive oil, and finishing salt labeled.

SO Easy to Make

cut and halved pita triangles on a cutting board and then them all on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Once you have your pita bread of choice, then it’s just a matter of cutting it into triangles and separating the pita. By separating the pita pocket and then cutting the triangles, this is what will give you that classic pita chip texture, plus, more pita chips from the same pita!

Now it’s time for some oil and your seasonings of choice!

Baked to crispy pita chip perfection!

Pita Chips From Scratch are seriously, my favorite kind of chip!

Baking Tips

Split the Pita Bread

Before baking, you’ll want to split your pita bread along the seam for the pocket to open the pita bread and slice it fully in half before cutting into triangles. This will give you nice thin pita chips and the thinner they are, the crispier they are!

Arrange in a single layer

This is key to getting the right crisp and cook on all of your chips.

Rotate in the oven

Rotate the trays when they’re on in the oven while baking for an even bake. You can also use tongs to flip the pita chips if desired.

Don’t skip the oil!

This is key to getting a nice crips chip!

Customize!

This is the best part of homemade pita chips from scratch, you can add your own flair and taste to them! Use some  za’atar (a classic Mediterranean spice blend), garlic powder, chili powder, everything bagel seasoning, or even take them to the sweet side with some cinnamon and sugar!
